When you use our website (moremovers.ca) or interact with our services, we may collect:

Information you give us directly

• Quote and booking requests: your name, email address, phone number, pickup and destination addresses, preferred move date and time, move size, and any notes you include.
• Contact form submissions: your name, email, phone (optional), and message.
• Newsletter subscriptions: your email address and the date you subscribed.
• AI concierge conversations: the messages you exchange with "Charlie", our on-site AI assistant.

Information collected automatically

• Technical data: your IP address, browser type, operating system, device type (mobile / tablet / desktop), and approximate geographic location (city and country level, derived from your IP address).
• Usage data: pages you visit on our site, session duration, referring site, and general browsing patterns — used to improve site performance and understand where our visitors come from.
• Local storage: small pieces of data stored on your device (not traditional cookies) to remember your theme preference (light/dark), brightness setting, chat position, and whether you've seen Charlie's welcome tour. None of this data is sent to us; it stays on your device.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide moving quotes, schedule and deliver moving services, and follow up with you about your request.
• Send you booking confirmations, appointment reminders, and service-related updates.
• Send occasional marketing emails and moving tips only if you subscribed to our newsletter — you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every marketing email (CASL-compliant).
• Answer your questions through our AI concierge Charlie and improve his responses over time.
• Understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it.
• Meet legal, tax, and insurance record-keeping requirements.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to run our site. Each has its own privacy policy and only receives the minimum data needed to do its job:

• Resend — sends the emails we deliver to you (quote confirmations, newsletters). Receives your email address and message content.
• Anthropic Claude — powers Charlie, our AI concierge. Receives the text of your chat messages so he can reply.
• ipapi.co — converts your IP address into an approximate city/country. Receives your IP address only.
• MongoDB Atlas — the encrypted cloud database where we securely store your quote and contact information.
• Google Maps (where applicable) — calculates driving distance and travel time between the addresses you provide. Receives the pickup and destination addresses.
• Emergent — the hosting platform that runs our website.

• Quote and contact form data — kept for up to 3 years so we can respond to follow-up questions and comply with insurance/tax record-keeping requirements. Deleted on request.
• Newsletter subscribers — kept until you unsubscribe. One-click unsubscribe link is included in every email.
• Charlie chat transcripts — kept for up to 12 months to help us improve the service. Deleted on request or after the retention period ends.
• Analytics data — aggregated and retained indefinitely in anonymized form (no identifying details).

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from marketing emails or ask us to stop processing your data (this may limit our ability to provide services).
• Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal record-keeping obligations we cannot waive).
• File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe we've mishandled your data. (priv.gc.ca)

We take reasonable precautions to protect your information — including encrypted database storage, HTTPS on our entire website, and restricted admin access with strong authentication. No system is 100% secure, but we act quickly on any incident and will notify you promptly if your data is ever affected.

Our services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes in our services or the law. The "Effective" date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest version. For material changes affecting how we use your data, we will let subscribers know via email.
